The participant is then introduced to the concept of "red flags." Within the context of assessment strategies inherent within
the process of soft tissue work, concepts of situations that would prompt referral are addressed.

Generally recognized terminology in the classification of headaches is then introduced as a basis for familiarity and to further
so that the therapist is familiar with the bases behind classifications and can use this familiarity in developing individualized
therapeutic approaches.

Neurological mechanisms involved in various types of pain are introduced. Based on these, some fundamental
neuroanatomical implications regarding headaches are explained. We formulate a basis for the student to recognize
patterns of headaches through the neurological mechanisms behind patterns of headaches that are felt in anatomical
locations other than the site of tissue involvement.

The myofascial components of headaches are addressed in detail with practical instruction on how soft tissue techniques
can help in managing these conditions. Specific technique with hands on practical experience is emphasized. Further,
models based on using ancillary therapies available to therapists are introduced, oriented at direct interventions building on
the functional classifications already introduced.

Techniques for communicating with other professionals and documentation of findings are emphasized. Forms are
introduced to streamline record-keeping and provide data based tracking of response to treatment. The program provides
an overall basis for understanding headaches, tools for therapeutic intervention and strategies for documentation that can
be utilized Monday morning in practice.
